Nearfield Instruments selects ProCleanroom’s modular softwall cleanroom: Flexibility in a temporary solution

Nearfield Instruments, a spin-off from TNO and a specialist in semiconductor metrology equipment for the global advanced semiconductor I.C. manufacturing industry, recently opted for the implementation of a modular softwall cleanroom from ProCleanroom.

This solution, spanning approximately 100 m² and divided into three separate areas, provides Nearfield with the necessary flexibility in a temporary cleanroom setup. Nearfield utilizes this cleanroom in a precise process, preventing microscopic contamination of highly sensitive high-tech components, which is crucial for the functionality and lifespan of their metrology equipment.

The modular softwall cleanroom, delivered from order to completion in just eight weeks, serves as a temporary solution that aligns perfectly with the dynamic needs of Nearfield Instruments. The system, constructed from a robust powder-coated steel frame and transparent PVC softwall strips, is a freestanding and self-supporting structure. The internal height of 2.4 meters offers ample space for operations.

The cleanroom is configured with a main area of approximately 80 m², supplemented by a Material Airlock (MAL) and Personnel Airlock (PAL) area, each approximately 10 m². To ensure optimal air quality, 18 fan filter units have been installed, equipped with HEPA-14 primary filters and high-capacity pre-filters.

This guarantees a clean working environment compliant with ISO Class 6 and 7 (ISO 14644-1/3). Illumination is provided by 28 LED luminaires, ensuring even light distribution.

The innovative designs with flush ceilings and the latest generation DC (EC) direct current motors in the fan filter units contribute to low operational costs and ease of cleaning.
