At the premises of Gpixel, European office in Belgium, Antwerp we have installed an advanced modular hardwall cleanroom with ISO 5/6/7 classifications, on the second floor their office building. The approx. 80 m² cleanroom, has an internal height of 2.3 meters and was built entirely within the existing structure of the building, without any adjustments being made to it. A perfect application of our specialist modular cleanroom system.
Gpixel supplies ready-made and partly fully customized CMOS image sensors for scientific, industrial, professional and medical applications. To also support the European office (in Antwerp) with wafer and more sensor testing capabilities, Gpixel has decided to build a local cleanroom. This means that in addition to shorten engineering feedback loop, they can also offer a limited capacity of production testing options in Antwerp avoiding a supply chain step in China. Something that more and more customers of Gpixel are interested in, given the current geopolitical situation.
To prevent contamination of the image sensor by extreme small particles, which could compromise test results (image quality), an ISO 5/ISO 6 cleanroom is absolutely essential for Gpixel. Without this cleanroom environment, professional and high-quality testing of image sensors is not feasible.
To mitigate the significant contamination risk posed by cleanroom personnel, despite protective clothing, an air shower has been implemented as a critical barrier between the gowning room and the main cleanroom. This ensures ongoing compliance with ISO class 5 and 6 standards in both primary cleanroom zones.
ProCleanroom provides cleanrooms that react efficiently to the dynamics in your market. The modular construction system of ProCleanroom is flexible, removable, portable and extensible. The requirement to build this cleanroom on the second floor of the office complex without making structural modifications made it an ideal fit for the Modular cleanroom system.
For this project, a Hardwall solution was chosen within this cleanroom system. This is a self-supporting construction where the walls are finished with durable, impact-resistant, anti-static wall panels. This type of cleanroom is particularly suitable for cleanrooms that require a higher level of cleanliness (up to ISO class 3). Following a custom lighting design, energy-efficient LED lighting has been implemented in the cleanroom. To enhance natural light integration, transparent anti-static wall panels were selected wherever feasible.
