“Having an in-house clean room gives us more control over delivery times.”
February 2021
At ProCleanroom, we’re proud of our products and services, but we’re even prouder of our relationships with our customers. This blog series focuses on customer stories from various industries. What challenges do entrepreneurs face in these industries and how do cleanroom solutions play a role in their business? This time we talk to Ronny Moors (Managing Director) of D&D Kunststofbewerking. A conversation about the increasingly stringent requirements for deliveries, the advantages of cleaning and packaging high-tech products in-house and the collaboration with ProCleanroom.
D&D has been manufacturing plastic products and modules for over 20 years. The strength of the company lies in its rapid response times, short delivery times and the supply of high-quality products. D&D is active in the medical, chemical, semiconductor and food industries. Their motivated and well-trained staff process all types of plastics in all desired series sizes. They also have modern machinery at their disposal, including 5-axis robotic machining centres and robotic turning and milling combinations. Besides machining plastics, D&D also produces plastic sheeting parts and supplies high-tech assemblies and modules.
Challenges
When we ask Ronny how he ended up at ProCleanroom, he says: “Our customers want more and more parts and modules delivered at a higher level. For example, technological progress is making the cleanliness requirements of products and applications increasingly stringent. This is reflected, for example, in the cleanliness requirements of organisations in the High Tech and medical sectors. As a result of this development, the demands are increasing. Machined parts are first cleaned (and possibly also assembled), after which they must be packed in a dust-free (cleanroom) environment.
In the past we outsourced cleanroom cleaning and packaging to an external party. However, at a certain point we were confronted with extremely long delivery times of up to 3 to 4 weeks. Because our total average delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks (including cleaning and packaging in the cleanroom), we could no longer meet our schedule by having the parts cleaned and packaged externally. These external longer lead times were at the expense of our delivery reliability towards our customers. Then we decided to do the cleaning, assembly and packaging of our products in-house. We proceeded to purchase our own cleanroom. It was built to our own requirements and the necessary specifications.”
