Customer experience in conversation with D&D Kunststofbewerking

24 February 2021Media, ProductsHugo Woudsma

“Having an in-house clean room gives us more control over delivery times.”

February 2021

At ProCleanroom, we’re proud of our products and services, but we’re even prouder of our relationships with our customers. This blog series focuses on customer stories from various industries. What challenges do entrepreneurs face in these industries and how do cleanroom solutions play a role in their business? This time we talk to Ronny Moors (Managing Director) of D&D Kunststofbewerking. A conversation about the increasingly stringent requirements for deliveries, the advantages of cleaning and packaging high-tech products in-house and the collaboration with ProCleanroom.

D&D has been manufacturing plastic products and modules for over 20 years. The strength of the company lies in its rapid response times, short delivery times and the supply of high-quality products. D&D is active in the medical, chemical, semiconductor and food industries. Their motivated and well-trained staff process all types of plastics in all desired series sizes. They also have modern machinery at their disposal, including 5-axis robotic machining centres and robotic turning and milling combinations. Besides machining plastics, D&D also produces plastic sheeting parts and supplies high-tech assemblies and modules.

Challenges
When we ask Ronny how he ended up at ProCleanroom, he says: “Our customers want more and more parts and modules delivered at a higher level. For example, technological progress is making the cleanliness requirements of products and applications increasingly stringent. This is reflected, for example, in the cleanliness requirements of organisations in the High Tech and medical sectors. As a result of this development, the demands are increasing. Machined parts are first cleaned (and possibly also assembled), after which they must be packed in a dust-free (cleanroom) environment.

In the past we outsourced cleanroom cleaning and packaging to an external party. However, at a certain point we were confronted with extremely long delivery times of up to 3 to 4 weeks. Because our total average delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks (including cleaning and packaging in the cleanroom), we could no longer meet our schedule by having the parts cleaned and packaged externally. These external longer lead times were at the expense of our delivery reliability towards our customers. Then we decided to do the cleaning, assembly and packaging of our products in-house. We proceeded to purchase our own cleanroom. It was built to our own requirements and the necessary specifications.”

The realisation of an in-house cleanroom
Ronny continues: “We approached ProCleanroom for the supply of a cleanroom. That was the start of a beautiful collaboration. ProCleanroom is a total partner in cleanroom solutions with a lot of experience and expertise. We went through the entire process together. The result is a tailor-made cleanroom solution that fully meets the required specifications. And more than that. The cleanroom is also suitable for cleaning, assembling and packaging grade 2 products in the future. This enables us as a company to keep growing with the increasing demands of our clients.

Fast, professional and everything under one roof
Thanks to tight preparation and planning, the entire cleanroom (35 m2) was installed, furnished and validated within four days. Talk about fast lead times! At the end of the fourth day, the cleanroom was delivered operational and validated as ISO class 7. It is nice to report that our production was not affected at all by this realisation. Everything went on as usual.

We have good experiences with ProCleanroom. We experienced the short, fast lines of communication and the detailed advice as very positive. What’s also nice is that at ProCleanroom, we find everything under one roof. From advice, guidance and installation to the ISO validation and the complete furnishing of the cleanroom. ProCleanroom also supplies consumables for the cleanroom, such as protective clothing, cleaning and disinfection products and equipment. They also provide training. A very pleasant way to work”.

In the middle of the technical heart of the Netherlands
ProCleanroom is located in the technical heart of the Netherlands, right in the brainport region. Through our experience and cooperation with numerous companies that work in or supply the High Tech sector, we are familiar with the cleanliness requirements of major players such as ASML and VDL. This allows us to provide our customers with good advice and to help them come up with cleanroom solutions to ensure deliveries that meet the specifications and cleanliness requirements of today and of the future. ProCleanroom also distinguishes itself by our speed of delivery and our flexibility in terms of design options.

An investment with a return
As an entrepreneur, if you invest in things, you want the return to exceed that investment. We ask Ronny how he looks back on the investment in his own cleanroom. Did the investment give him what he had in mind? Ronny explains: “We have an immediate return on investment because we are attracting new customers with this cleanroom. They now also come with orders to deliver complete modules that are cleanroom cleaned and packaged. The production and delivery speed has also been greatly improved by the arrival of the cleanroom. The logistical benefits are also pleasing: no more extra transports and much less administrative hassle. It works a lot faster and provides more return on investment”.

Satisfied?
D&D Kunststofbewerking is a satisfied customer. Ronny concludes: “We are happy with how the process went and with the support from ProCleanroom. Even after delivery, the lines of communication remain short and we can get advice where necessary. In addition, the web shop allows us to order consumables that are always delivered quickly. We definitely recommend ProCleanroom to others”.

A satisfied customer: that is why we do it. We like to build on our customers’ expertise. ProCleanroom: Build your expertise.
