The HolloFlex cleanroom: Tailor-made for a global leader in motion.

This ISO-Class 6 and 7 HolloFlex® cleanroom for Maxon Motors Benelux is installed on their premise in Enschede. This expansion significantly increases the production capacity of the international drive system manufacturer for the semiconductor industry. As a Full Service Provider, ProCleanroom managed the entire trajectory: from initial engineering to final ISO validation.

Founded in Switzerland in 1961, maxon motor has evolved into a global authority in precision drive systems. With over 3,000 employees across 41 countries, the company is renowned for its innovative power. As maxon states: “Our roots are in Switzerland, but our drive systems move the world. Curiosity, innovation, and the courage to continuously adapt are at the heart of maxon’s history.”

This drive for innovation, coupled with growing demand from the semiconductor sector, prompted the expansion of their cleanroom capacity at the Enschede (NL) facility. ProCleanroom provided a custom solution that perfectly integrates critical processes with the existing cleanroom infrastructure. The HolloFlex® cleanroom system was selected, offering the necessary flexibility to realize a high-end environment within specific functional and spatial constraints.

HolloFlex® cleanrooms: The flexible cleanroom system for ISO 6 to 9

The HolloFlex® cleanroom system is engineered for organizations requiring a future-proof and adaptable working environment. As professionals in cleanroom technology, we provide a fully demountable and relocatable solution, ensuring your investment retains its value during process changes or facility relocations. The innovative hollow-wall design offers unparalleled flexibility; not only is the layout easily adjustable, but utilities can also be integrated quickly and efficiently. By routing air returns directly through the walls, net floor space is optimized without compromising performance. For environments requiring ISO Class 6 to 9 compliance, HolloFlex delivers a cost-effective solution tailored to your specific operational needs.

Key features of the HolloFlex® cleanroom system:

Full-service support: from concept to ISO certification

ProCleanroom’s strength in this project lay in its role as a Full Service Provider. Utilizing in-house engineering, project management, and experienced technicians ensured a seamless execution, unburdening maxon throughout the process.

The new facility covers a total area of 46 m² and is fully integrated into the existing production hall. The cleanroom is divided into four compartments, with the main areas validated to ISO Class 6. An internal height of 2.60 meters creates a spacious atmosphere, contributing to an ergonomic and pleasant working environment for operators.

Advanced engineering: designed for process optimization

The design phase prioritized maxon’s client-specific processes. Every technical aspect was engineered to optimize workflow, product quality, and user well-being:

  • Climate control: To ensure a stable and comfortable working climate, the cleanroom is connected to the building’s HVAC system. This guarantees a constant temperature, essential for both personnel and high-precision client processes.
  • Lighting: Based on a pre-calculated lighting plan, the space features energy-efficient LED panels providing high luminous flux. The facility is also equipped with required emergency lighting and exit signage.
  • Logistics and access: The layout is highly efficient. The new construction is linked to the existing cleanroom via two corridors, one of which features double doors for goods transport. All doors are self-closing to maintain the air pressure hierarchy.
  • Specialized functions: For quality control purposes, the two main rooms can be easily darkened—a necessity for conducting accurate UV inspections.

In addition to the physical construction, ProCleanroom’s  Accessories & Consumables division. supplied essential items, including UV inspection lamps for quality control. The project concluded with an official ISO validation according to ISO 14644-1/3, certifying the required cleanliness classes (ISO 6 and 7). Consequently, Maxon Motors Benelux is now equipped with a future-proof facility that meets the most stringent international standards..
