The PanelBloc cleanroom
This ca. 74 m² PanelBloc cleanroom for MRB fijnmetaalbewerkings B.V. is installed on their premise in Valkenswaard. The company excels in delivering both exceptional quality and outstanding flexibility, ensuring rapid turnaround times. It has a modern and comprehensive machine park, operated by a close-knit team of professionals who possess a mastery of current techniques. MRB fijnmetaalbewerkings B.V. serves a diverse range of industries, including the medical, optical, and packaging sectors, as well as defense and various other specialized industries.
It was important for MRB to integrate the new cleanroom into an existing part of their business premises. The available space was partially located underneath a mezzanine in the existing building. Important aspects to include from the very first moment in the project planning and engineering phase.
To make optimal use of the available space, while maintaining maximum performance, it was decided to construct the cleanroom from the patented PanelBloc® cleanroom system. The PanelBloc panels are equipped with a special coating which accommodate fast and maximum cleaning of the areas, in addition all walls and ceiling are fully flush.
“Each sector has its own cleanliness requirements”
Operational Director, Glenn Rovers tells, “At MRB precision metalworking, we always look ahead! Whether it’s training personnel, purchasing modern machinery, or, as in this case, investing in our own high-tech cleanroom, we want to be prepared for the future.
As a supplier of high-tech components to numerous renowned national and international companies primarily involved in mechatronics, defense, aviation, optics, and the medical industry, it is crucial for us to consistently deliver the highest quality.
Each sector has its own cleanliness requirements when it comes to product delivery. Previously, we outsourced cleanroom cleaning and packaging, but increasingly faced long lead times, limited flexibility in switching between different cleanliness requirements, and also damage or other deviations incurred externally.
Especially the handling of rejected products involves a significant administrative burden. By acquiring our own ISO class 6 cleanroom, we keep lead times short and can guarantee the quality that we at MRB stand for.
At MRB, cleanliness is not limited to the cleanroom! All colleagues are committed to delivering products of the highest possible quality. For instance, we increasingly work with gloves and have ultrasonic cleaning tanks at various locations within our company where products are pre-cleaned immediately after coming off the machine. This allows us to perform a rough pre-cleaning directly and optimize the lead time in the cleanroom.”
The cleanroom is divided into three different areas (Main, PAL, MAL). The main area has a floor area of approximately 38 m² and is classified as ISO class 6. Also the layout of the MAL is specially designed for the installation of an ultra-modern cleaning installation. The 27 m², ISO class 8, area is used for cleaning and preparing the products before they are brought into the main area. This allows the cleanroom process to be carried out as efficiently as possible, so that short lead times can be guaranteed.
(ASML) Grade 4 and 2
The installation of ten high-performance fan filter units, utilizing HEPA H14 main filters and high-capacity prefilters, guarantees an ISO-Class 6 environment in the main area. This level of cleanliness renders the cleanroom exceptionally well-suited for assembly, cleaning, and packaging operations requiring ASML Grade 4 and 2 standards.

Leveraging their expertise in cleanroom consumables and accessories, ProCleanroom’s specialized division collaborated closely with MRB Precision Machining B.V. to ensure a perfectly equipped cleanroom. By deeply understanding MRB’s specific workflow requirements, ProCleanroom recommended and supplied a comprehensive suite of products, including stainless steel furniture, ergonomic seating, and critical cleaning supplies. This parallel approach, aligning product selection with construction progress, enabled MRB to seamlessly transition to full operational capacity. This successful project showcases the effectiveness of a true turnkey partnership.
