The 700 m² PanelBloc cleanroom
This large ISO-Class 7 PanelBloc cleanroom is installed on a rented site for a International manufacturing in the semiconductor industry. The cleanroom will be used for the conditioned storage of highly sensitive high-tech machines.
In addition to the main area of c.a. 550 m², the cleanroom is equipped with a spacious ISO-8, Airlock/MAL-area (100 m²), specifically designed for the customer process and a 50 m² gowning/PAL-area, also ISO-class 8.
Due to its size, layout and desired specifications, while maintaining maximum performance, it was decided to build the cleanroom from the patented PanelBloc® cleanroom system. The PanelBloc panels have a special coating that allows the area’s to be cleaned quickly and optimally, and all walls and ceiling are completely flush.
Temporary storage
The cleanroom was specifically constructed for the temporary storage of highly sensitive high-tech machinery on a rented site. Due to the fact that this location is not owned by our client, it was crucial that the cleanroom have a completely self-supporting construction, eliminating the need for suspension and modifications to the building. In order to maintain the “temporary” character and to ensure that the cleanroom can be dismantled relatively easily, without this having consequences for the floor in the location which it is built, our engineers decided to use a cleanroom-compatible floor tile.

Sensitive settings for temperature and humidity.
To ensure the desired air exchange is achieved with a fully filled storage, while maintaining the desired ISO class (7) and air velocity at maximum performance, 50 air swirl diffusers are installed in combination with an AHU (Air handling unit) equipped with high capacity HEPA filtration.
This ensures that the temperature has a constant value of 21 degrees (+/- 1 degree) and the humidity has a value of 50% (+/- 10%). Sufficient lighting was also an important point of attention. To ensure sufficient lighting, 140 LED panels are integrated completely flush into the ceiling, according to a predetermined lighting plan.
Customer-specific layout of the cleanroom
The highly sensitive high-tech machines stored in this cleanroom are large in size and have a high weight. Consequently, extra-wide high-speed doors have been installed, and the MAL (Material Airlock) with its approximately 100 m² has been designed to be spacious. At each storage location, utilities are provided, such as nitrogen, power, sprinklers, and emergency lighting. The internal height of 4.8 meters allows tooling of different sizes to be entered the cleanroom with ease.
All internal doors and high-speed doors are equipped with a self-closing interlock system. For maximum safety, the cleanroom is equipped with safety systems such as smoke detectors, emergency lighting and special emergency doors that can only be opened from the inside.
